- June 14 - The Submarine Voyage (closed 1998) is opened in Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park.
- September - Soviet Premier Nikita Kruschev is denied entrance to Disneyland Park, citing Cold War tensions.
- Three major attractions open in Tomorrowland; the Submarine Voyage, the Matterhorn Bobsleds, and the Monorail.
- "A Tour of the West", the first film shown in the Circle-Vision theater in Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park, ends showing. It would be replaced by "America the Beautiful" the next year.
- Fantasyland Autopia (closed 1999) is opened.
