- March 18 - Pirates of the Caribbean opens in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park.
- The Monsanto House of the Future (opened 1957) closes shortly after the end of the Tomorrowland renovation. The "House of the Future" concept would be integrated into a stage at Innoventions in 2008.
- July 2 - Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park gets a new revamp with many new Attractions such as:
- Carousel of Progress (closed 1973)
- PeopleMover (closed 1994)
- Adventure Thru Inner Space (closed 1985)
- Rocket Jets (closed 1997)
- August - A 17-year-old guest is crushed to death by a PeopleMover car after attempting to jump between two cars.
