Admiral Joe Fowler

Joe Fowler (1894-1993) was a rear admiral for the United States Navy who worked as construction boss for the Disneyland Project, particularly for the Mark Twain Riverboat and Rivers of America. After this, Fowler worked as general manager of Disneyland for its first ten years of operation.

Tributes[]

  • Fowler's Harbor: This part of Critter Country is named in tribute to Joe Fowler.
  • Rivers of America: In the Magic Kingdom, there originally used to be two steamboats known as the Richard F. Irvine and the Admiral Joe Fowler.
  • Seven Seas Lagoon: One of the ferries was re-christened from the Magic Kingdom I to the Admiral Joe Fowler.
  • Splash Mountain: In Disneyland's Splash Mountain, the logs passed by a door marked as "Fowler's Cellar".
