Big Daddy is a character from the extinct attraction America Sings.
History[]
Background[]
Big Daddy was an anthropomorphic pig during the 19th century who presumably lived in the vicinity of Chick-a-Pin Hill in the Southern United States region of Critter Country. Big Daddy provided pipe-organ accompaniment for the River Belle Chorus aboard the Zip-A-Dee Lady riverboat. After Br'er Rabbit outsmarted the predators Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear in his attempt to leave home, the River Belle Chorus performed "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" in Doo-Dah Landing as part of a celebration to welcome Br'er Rabbit back home.
Big Daddy may have lived into the 20th century as a pianist.
Development history[]
Big Daddy was a character designed for extinct Tomorrowland attraction America Sings by animator Marc Davis. After Splash Mountain shut down, Big Daddy was one of the many America Sings figures moved to Splash Mountain. In the 2020s, Splash Mountain was shut down and replaced by Tiana's Bayou Adventure. The character continues to appear in Tokyo Disneyland's Splash Mountain.
