Bruce is a character from Finding Nemo (2003). He is voiced by Barry Humphries.
History[]
Background[]
Bruce is an Australian great white shark who never knew his father. Bruce was leader of a support group of sharks that believed in not eating fish, a group including himself Anchor, and Chum with their base being a sunken submarine. When Marlin and Dory went on a journey to find Marlin's son, Nemo, they encountered Bruce who tried to help them until the smell of Dory's blood put him into a feeding frenzy. Following this, Marlin and Dory accidentally set off one of the mines surrounding the submarine.
Following this, Bruce's grasp on his pledge became more and more difficult to maintain. When Squirt and Nemo went on an adventure together, Bruce attempted to eat them and their turtle friends. When Nemo went missing again, he assisted in looking for him though possibly with the intention to eat him. Bruce was witnessed by an explorer submarine of the N.E.M.O. Institute passing by the shipwreck during this incident.

NEMO submarines pass by Bruce, looking for Nemo to eat only to be talked out of it by Anchor and Chum.
The Seas with Nemo & Friends[]
The shark playground area, "Bruce's Sub House" includes a large sculpture of Bruce. In the ride, Bruce appears in his submarine trying to lure out Nemo; either to help Marlin or eat the little fish.
Trivia[]
- Bruce is named after the nickname for the animatronic shark used in the movie Jaws (1975). Incidentally, the shark was designed by Bob Mattey who also designed mechanics for various Disney attractions.
