Background[]
CLU 2 was a sentient program created by Kevin Flynn to assist him in perfecting the Grid. However, CLU's obsession with perfection caused him to believe that Kevin no-longer cared for their goal so he rebelled. In 1989, CLU 2 outcast Kevin while marooning him in the virtual world, and took over the Grid which he transformed into a tyrannical empire. CLUE 2 also commit mass genocide of mysterious living code programs known as ISOs, leaving the sole survivor as Kevin's apprentice Quorra.
CLU defeated Kevin's ally Tron in battle and reprogrammed him into being his primary enforcer, "Rinzler". At some point, both Rinzler and CLU-2 were champions of the vicious LightcyclePower Run. CLU 2 began scheming to launch an invasion on the human world but needed Kevin's identity-disc to do this. In 2010, CLU-2 orchestrated for Flynn's son Sam to enter the code as part of his plans to acquire Kevin's disc. Sam, Kevin and Quorra managed to foil CLU's plans, with Kevin reabsorbing CLU into his own being in an act of sacrifice which destroyed them both.
