The Crash Test Dummies or CTDs were mascots of the original Test Track in EPCOT.

Description[]

The Crash Test Dummies are a group of sci-fi, sentient crash test dummies (possibly of robotic origin) which were used by the company General Motors. The CTDs were used for testing the safety, durability and performance of GM cars, though the dangers involved made them protest against the process.

History[]

Background[]

These dummies were used by General Motors in EPCOT. Due to their dangerous work conditions, they went on strike and had to be replaced with human test-subjects by General Motors. Some of the dummies may have became involved with the next Test Track company of Chevrolet which used high-tech SimCars on a digital SimTrack.

Development history[]

The dummies were mascot characters for the original Test Track, possibly inspired by the public-announcement characters of Larry and Vince the Crash Test Dummies. They were removed from the attraction when Chevrolet became the new sponsors and the ride took on a more TRON inspired sci-fi aesthetic.

Appearances[]

The CTD, "Fletch" and '' Lumpy'' used to be a meet 'n' greet character in EPCOT.[1]

Test Track[]

Various crash test dummies used to be scattered throughout the queue, being tested on.

Test Track Cool Wash[]

A sleeker, grey crash-test dummy is visible, sitting in a frozen-over SimCar while drinking Coca Cola.

Trivia[]

  • Merchandise frequently depicted a Goofy crash-test dummy.
