Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After is a live show attraction at Sunset Boulevard at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The show is housed in Sunset Showcase near Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.
History[]
On September 3, 2024, it was announced that a Disney Villains-themed show would replace the Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy show at the Sunset Showcase theater at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Two pieces of concept art were revealed during the announcement. The first one featuring the Magic Mirror, followed by other villains, such as Captain Hook and Maleficent breaking through the glass in live stage production.
Other villains seen within this concept art included others, such as Hades, Cruella De Vil, Jafar, and others with the Magic Mirror around them, with the second one featuring a Cruella De Vil-themed sequence with Cruella on stage surrounded by images of her fashion designs. Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy later closed permanently on October 7, 2024, a month after the announcement.
On December 1, 2024, during "The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular", it was revealed that the Disney Villains-themed show was officially named "Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After".
Show summary[]
The show starts in the Magic Mirror Chamber where the Spirit laments over how he yearns for the days where the Queen would ask “Who’s the fairest one of all”, whereas nowadays the multitude of members that are apart of the Disney Villains ask who’s been treated as the most Unfairly of all. Which is why he has summoned the audience to assist him in deciding who’s most misunderstood of all, which he would do himself if he was able to judge.. but as he states in his song, he can only reflect! To make matters worse, when some villains manage to find a looking glass.. they end up for a nasty surprise as the Evil Queen shatters their mirrors, for she’s enchanted the spirit to answer only to her! The Magic Mirror will require the audience’s help to appease these fiends so he’ll be able to find peace at last!
After he sings about his woes, Cruella De Vil manages to find a way to make her way through the glass with the audience finding themselves in Hell Hall while pleading that her passion for trying to turn the Dalmatians into fur coats was mostly her being "inspired" for her latest piece of fashion while putting on a flashy moulin rouge inspired routine!
With the spot obsessed heiress out of our hair, the Magic Mirror finds himself pestered by the voices of villains while trying to figure out how Cruella made it through the glass! But his thoughts are shanghaied when the World's Most Famous Crook, Captain Hook comes aboard with the audience magically stowed away on his ship! He doesn’t get much applause, blaming Peter Pan for his lack of fanfare.. even stating that Smee somehow gets better treatment! As he pleads his case, the rather familiar melody of a rhythmic reptile is heard (with Captain Hook comedically mistaking it as cues for a "dance break") and it’s only when he sees Tick-Tock the Crocodile near the plank that he breaks down in hysterics trying to plead towards the Magic Mirror that he’s the most misunderstood! But as payback for obscuring his face with a portrait of the captain, the Magic Mirror whistles.. and Tick-Tock chases the pompous pirate off his own boat!
Now that we’ve gotten off that scoundrel’s sailing vessel, the Magic Mirror continues to state how relentless the villains are.. and will do anything to make their cases heard! As the silhouette of a dragon flies by with dramatic thunder, the Magic Mirror deducts that Maleficent has just arrived as the audience now finds themselves atop Forbidden Mountain! But Maleficent doesn’t seek to do the audience any harm, but rather try to persuade them into stating how she’s the most misunderstood!
After Maleficent left, the Magic Mirror says they like to make a dramatic exit. Suddenly Hades appears wanting to get through the glass saying he been misunderstood by the Olympians. Then Jafar shows up claiming he is misunderstood as he should has been sultan. The two get into an argument which results in Hades getting furious (possibly causing the mirrors to go haywire); the mirrors then being to show multiple villains at the same time ranting about them being misunderstood overwhelming the Magic Mirror. As the chaos intensifies; The Evil Queen appears declaring they misunderstood her most of all for the Magic Mirror is hers and hers alone and in retaliation she smashes all their mirrors and the ones on the stage. The Magic Mirror in great distress pleads to the audience to pick the most misunderstood!
The audience then told to choice from the three villains that got through the glass being Cruella De Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent. The ending of the show depends on the audience discussion.
In a reprise of Magic Mirror, the Magic Mirror tells them to go now that a winner was declared however they never promised they leave and refused despite getting an answer. The Magic Mirror ask why he must endure rift-raft. The winner response with "The Villian always get the last laugh". This respond makes the mirror realize that he may have been tricked himself and can only beg in horror for them to just go. After the reprise song, All the Villains appear and laugh at the Magic Mirror as he watches in horror with his last words being "Oh No" and the show ends.
