Elliot is a central character from Pete's Dragon (1977).
History[]
Background[]
Elliot is a large dragon with the ability to turn invisible, and who has the job of finding children in danger to protect them. Around the late 19th/early 20th century, he assisted a young boy named Pete in escaping from the abusive Gogan Family which adopted him to be a slave. Elliot and Pete escaped to the town of Passamaquoddy where Pete was taken in by lighthouse keepers Nora and Lampie.
In the town, evil snake-oil salesman Doctor Terminus attempted to catch Elliot to harvest his magical body-parts for sale. Terminus also manipulated the local fishermen into assisting him in netting up the dragon, only for Elliot to fight back causing Terminus to be tied up in ropes. Elliot proceeded to destroy Terminus' wagon. When Pete was adopted by Nora and Lampie, Elliot left to protect different children who needed him more.
