The Firefly Five Plus Lou is a fictional band from The Princess and the Frog (2009).
Description[]
The Firefly Five Plus Lou was a jazz band active in New Orleans in the 1920s. The band was composed of five human musicians along with the trumpet playing alligator, Louis. The band was known to perform in Tiana's Palace, a restaurant in New Orleans Square run by Louis' friend Princess Tiana. The drum logo for the band has two stars on it, representing the deceased firefly Ray who was in love with the Morning Star, Evangeline.
History[]
Background[]
The Firefly Five Plus Lou was established around the year 1926, giving the alligator Louis an opportunity to play his music. The name and drum design of the band appeared to be a tribute to Louis and Tiana's late firefly friend, Ray. This band performed in Tiana's restaurant, Tiana's Palace, in New Orleans Square.
Development history[]
The Firefly Five Plus Lou briefly appeared in the epilogue section of The Princess and the Frog (2009). The name of the band was an allusion to the Firehouse Five Plus Two, a real-life Dixieland jazz band which consisted of Disney animators.
