Flubber the Flying Rubber is a synthetic character from the movie Flubber (1997), based on the inanimate substance of the same name from The Absent-Minded Professor (1961).

Description[]

Flubber is a synthetic, rubber-like matter which is sentient, capable of asexual self-replication, can form an anthropomorphic form. Flubber is highly elastic allowing for any substance it is applied to to be immensely bouncy.

History[]

Background[]

Flubber was created by Philip Brainard of Medfield College. Philip adopted the Flubber as an adoptive child along with the robot Weebette. Brainard's invention of Flubber lead to him being named the Imagination Institute's "Inventor of the Year". Brainard was given an office in the Institute's Imagination! Pavilion in EPCOT where Flubber was also located, often running amok while a room in the pavilion was dedicated to, "Flubber Storage".

Journey Into Imagination With Figment[]

In the queue, Flubber is visible running amok inside of Philip Brainard's office.[1] Over the intercom, the secretary will make a call for Brainard to alert him of his escaped Flubber running throughout the different labs. Another intercom message asks Professor Brainard to bring Flubber to a brainstorm meeting to, "Bounce a few ideas around". Another room is glowing green and is labelled, "Flubber Storage".
