G2-9T is a character from Star Tours.

History[]

Background[]

Origins[]

G2-9T was a G2 unit repair droid or, "Goose Droid" purchased second-hand by the company Star Tours at a “pay-by-the-kilogram” fire sale.[1] By around a year before the Battle of Yavin, he was stationed to check luggage for security purposed on Spaceport THX1138. According to G2-9T, he got the job through an apprenticeship. G2-9T was fairly bad at his job, constantly falling asleep to, "Recharge batteries", failing to recognize contraband, destroying harmless luggage, and having a bad relationship with his supervisor. Through unknown means, he was aware of the secret Rebel base located on the planet Yavin and (badly) attempted to keep the base's secret.[2]

Leading up to Star Tour's infamous Flight 1401, G2-9T had several slip-ups visible to passengers of said flight. G2-9T would destroy many pieces of harmless luggage and let other droids and entities pass through for differing reasons. He misidentified a live Ewok as a plush and let it clear, a case of blasters as hairdryers, mistook a lightsaber as a flash light, let a live Jawa pass through, ignored to check a case containing a bowcaster while making Jar Jar Binks jokes before clearing it, and ignored to check a case of pirate weapons and cleared it while trying to relay a message for Jabba the Hutt. G2-9T also took a nap causing an alert to go off, pretended he wasn't sleeping and cleared a case containing an active Pit droid then another with an active training remote firing laser blasts and active WALL-E. During this instance, he also accidentally revealed the location of the secret rebel base to passengers.

Endor Express[]

Around four-five years later, G2-9T was demoted to droid-repair, a job which he previously expressed disdain for.

Later history[]

Development history[]

G2-9T and G2-4T were created from repurposed goose animatronics taken from defunct Tomorrowland attraction America Sings. Their, "Goose Droid" nicknames, and whistling, "I've been working on the railroad" is an allusion to this. G2-9T was shown working on droid repair in the original Star Tours, but was moved to become a droid security agent for Star Tours: The Adventures Continue.
