History[]
Background[]
Grizzly Gulch was founded on August 8, 1888 by the exploring Captain Phineas Cosgrove and various settlers. They believed the town to be lucky due to the number 8 being lucky in Chinese culture, and that he found a 130 pound heavy gold nugget in the region on the day that a geyser erupted. This nugget was moved with the, "Old 801 Lucky Nugget Mine Car" and put on display.
Cosgrove went on to found the Big Grizzly Mountain Mining Company. This company did not force off the native bears, resulting in the bears often causing accidents and otherwise mayhem around the mining-site.
Later history[]
At some point (likely in the 20th century), Ernest of the Country Bears visited Grizzly Gulch while on vacation. The record label "Grizzly Gulch Records" used by intelligent bears presumably originates from and/or is based out of Grizzly Gulch. This label made a record of the Five Bear Rugs' one-night-only performance in Grizzlyville from the Country Bears' world tour.

Trivia[]
- Grizzly Gulch's frequent references to being connected to Big Thunder Mountain is somewhat odd due to Grizzly Gulch being in Northern California, while Big Thunder is in Arizona. This is an allusion to Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars being a counterpart to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. As a result, Grizzly Gulch is often referenced alongside the towns of Rainbow Ridge, Tumbleweed, and Thunder Mesa.
- Kenai and Koda from Brother Bear frequently appear in this land and its artwork.
- Grizzly Gulch and Grizzly Peak are both fictional locations from the Disney Parks centred around mountains shaped like bears, have histories of mining, and which are affiliated with characters from Brother Bear.
