Herbie the Love Bug or more simply Herbie is the titular character from the Disney comedy-film The Love Bug (1968). Herbie is a sentient 1963 Volkswagen Beetle who often competes in racing competitions. He has made various appearances at the Disney Parks, notably being affiliated with Hollywood themed portions of the parks such as Disney's Hollywood Studios and Walt Disney Studios Park.

History[]

Herbie is a sentient 1963 Volkswagen Beetle with a playful personality and love for racing. In the parks, he was shown to have seemingly found work in Hollywood.

Appearances[]

Herbie has made assorted appearances in parades and at character events. In The Grand Opening of Walt Disney World TV special, he was shown being driven by actor Buddy Hackett (who portrayed Tennessee Steinmetz in the Love Bug), down the Tomorrowland Speedway.

Disney's All-Star Movies Resort[]

There is a section of this resort themed around The Love Bug. This area of the resort features a model of Herbie, an image showing Herbie stuck in the wall, and a Winner's Circle to represent his racing.

Disney's Hollywood Studios[]

Herbie's drive-in[]

Herbie's drive-in was a Herbie themed dining-service located in the Streets of America section.

Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show[]

Herbie used to appear as a character in this now defunct show. He appeared during the show's intermission before being replaced by Lightning McQueen.

Studio Backlot Tour[]

The Herbie cars appeared as part of the backlot tour. Herbie also appeared in the tour as an in-universe character, greeting guests in the, "Residential Street" facade section of the ride. Herbie's model from this attraction was moved to Disney's All-Star Movies Resort due to children climbing on it.[1]

Herbie makes a cameo in this Front Lot gift-shop. He appears being elevated by a mechanical device.
