Honest John and Gideon are a pair of villains from Pinocchio (1940), based on the Fox and the Cat from Carlo Collodi's original story.
History[]
Background[]
"Honest John" is an anthropomorphic fox and Gideon, his silent anthropomorphic cat accomplice. The two acted as con-artists in 19th century Italy, at one point tying strings to Gideon to sell to puppet master Stromboli. The two met the living puppet Pinocchio who they deceived into selling to Stromboli. They later boasted about their "victories" in the Red Lobster Tavern where a fellow criminal hired them to lure up boys to bring to Pleasure Island, where they would be horrifically turned into donkeys and sold. The two enjoyed their own time on Pleasure Island, but a gendarme/policeman keeps an eye on them.
Appearances[]
The two will frequently make live appearances.
