Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) is a historic artist, inventor and polymath.

Background[]

Origins[]

Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian renaissance painter, artist, inventor and polymath. He made various designs for flying and gliding machines, some of which would be collected by the time-travelling wizard, Merlin. Leonardo would create the masterpiece portrait of the Mona Lisa, during which process he was encountered by the flying time-travelling robot, "9-Eye" and sketched her down quickly.

Afterlife[]

After Leonardo's death in 1519, his ghost haunted Fortress Explorations in Porto Paradiso, Italy. Da Vinci was posthumously made a member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers whom made the fortress their headquarters, and dedicated rooms in the fortress to his craft.

Da Vinci is often referenced as one of the artists who inspired Discoveryland, along with Jules Verne and H.G. Wells.

There is Da Vinci inspired astral artwork and sculptures in this shop.

Orbitron[]

The Orbitron is sometimes referenced as, "The Leonardo Da Vinci attraction", appearing to be modelled off of his planet artwork.

The Timekeeper[]

Leonardo da Vinci was encountered by 9-Eye while painting his Mona Lisa. He spots 9-Eye and begins to sketch her as she makes her escape.

Miniatures of Da Vinci's devices appear in Merlin's shop.

Merlin’s Marvelous Miscellany[]

Models of some of Leonardo da Vinci's machines along with blueprints for his flying machine appear within Merlin's shop.[1]

The Mona Lisa appears on Pleasure Island with a moustache painted on.[2]

Toad Hall Restaurant[]

One of the portraits inside is a Toad parody of the Mona Lisa.[3]

Fortress Explorations[]

Merlin's likeness is featured as an honorary member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. In the fortress' backstory, the building is haunted by Da Vinci's ghost. There are also chambers themed around Da Vinci's craft and art.

Soaring: Fantastic Flight[]

Da Vinci was an inspiration for Camellia Falco and inspiration for her Dream Flyers. Her museum includes references to Da Vinci and his flying machines, including a mural of him outside.[4][5]

In Disneyland's Autopia, Bird has sketches of Da Vinci's flying machines.[6]

Da Vinci's workshop was passed through, where he was seen painting the Mona Lisa while a man experimented with his flying-machine nearby.
