The Master Control Program or MCP is the main-antagonist of TRON (1982).
Description[]
The Master Control Program was a sentient computer-program developed by the company ENCOM as an advisor. Made from code of a chess program, the MCP aimed to take over both the material and digital worlds until its destruction.
History[]
Background[]
The MCP was made as a chess program by ENCOM founder Walter Gibbs before being modified by businessman Ed Dillinger to assist the company's corporate expansion. The MCP stole data from other companies and organizations with aims to expand in power, while ruling the digital world of the Grid as a tyrant dictator. After making the mistake of digitizing former ENCOM coder Kevin Flynn, Flynn and his ally Tron were able to de-rez the MCP with a disc to the core of its code, reverting it to a chess program.

PeopleMover[]
The voice of the MCP warned guests of entering the MCP's territory as they entered America Sings' theatre. The MCP proceeded to digitize them and attempt to kill them with LightCycles in the Game Grid before the guests could escape. The MCP was heard threatening guests as they escaped its domain.
