Mister Cotton or simply Cotton is a character from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003). He was portrayed by the late David Bailie.

Background[]
Cotton was a pirate in the early half of the 18th century who had his tongue cut out, leaving him a mute. Cotton then trained a pet macaw to speak for him, through methods unknown. In the early 1720s, Cotton and the bird were recruited out of Tortuga by Captain Jack Sparrow and William Turner to serve aboard the stolen HMS Interceptor on a mission to reclaim Jack's ship, The Black Pearl from Captain Barbossa. After this, Cotton and his parrot became main-stays of Jack's piratical crew.

While Cotton himself does not appear, Cotton's Parrot appears in most versions of the ride, affiliated with Jack's adventures on Isla Tesoro.

Both Cotton and Cotton's parrot are listed in the crew-logs of the Black Pearl.[1]
