Moana is a character that makes appearances in many of the Disney Parks.
History[]
Background[]
Origins[]
Moana originates from the Polynesian island of Motonui where she was daughter of the village chieftain. When she was very young, the ocean (a sentient being) befriended her, though her father forbid her or anyone else on the island to go out on the ocean. Moana had a pet chicken named Hei Hei and a pet pig named Pua.
Heart of Te Fiti[]
When a blight originating from the deity Te Ka threatened to destroy the island, Moana's dying grandmother left her with the Heart of the goddess Te Fiti which would defeat the lava god while sending Moana on a boat journey to save the ocean, accompanied by Hei Hei. The Ocean brought Moana to the island where the god Maui was exiled, before forcing Maui to become Moana's ally in restoring the heart of Te Fiti.
Moana and Maui fought the Kakamora pirates and recovered Maui's magical fishhook from the giant crab Tamatoa in the Realm of Monsters, allowing Maui to shape-shift. Moana and Maui joined forces to fight Te Ka where Moana realized that it was another form of Te Fiti, corrupted by how Moana had taken her heart. Moana gave her back the heart, restoring her to her Te Fiti form and fixing the blight. After this, Moana returned home and lead her people to become voyagers again.
Later history[]
Moana became a legendary figure. She may have visited a Polynesian Village along the Seven Seas Lagoon which had artwork in her likeness and a mercantile in her name.

Trivia[]
- There is a fan-theory that Crush from Finding Nemo is the baby turtle which Moana saves in Moana. When asked about this in Turtle Talk with Crush, he said, "I don't like to feed into conspiracy theories, but totally". The validity of this claim is unclear.
