History[]
Background[]
New York City was colonized by Europeans in 1624.
19th century[]
Throughout much of the 19th century, two of New York City's most prominent members were rivalling wealthy business magnates Cornelius Endicott II and Harrison Hightower III. Harrison Hightower III was an evil man, who frequently travelled the globe with his manservant Archibald Smelding while buying, stealing, and grave-robbing various artifacts with the racist ideology that, "Primitive art is wasted on primitive people". Many pulp stories were published, romanticizing Hightower's adventures.
In 1865, the United States Steamship Company was established, and run by Cornelius Endicott II.
In 1883, one of Cornelius Endicott II's seven daughters, Beatrice Rose Endicott, was born.
In 1889, Harrison Hightower III began construction on the Hotel Hightower, designed by architect Oscar Klinovski. On the January 24th of 1892, the Hotel Hightower opened and was met by both fanfare and protests against Hightower.[1] The hotel's opening had attendance from then mayor Alfred C. Chapin, members of city council, and US president Benjamin Harrison who reportedly slept through the affair in the hotel. Hightower would use the Hotel Hightower to stock his various unethically acquired trophies from across the globe.
Tower of Terror[]
On the New Year's Eve of 1899, Harrison Hightower III hosted a New Year's Eve party in the Hotel Hightower. This party was a celebration of him and Smelding returning from the Congo, where they stole the idol of the carnage deity Shiriki Utundu from the Mtundu Tribe. Harrison Hightower III's contemporaries in the Society of Explorers and Adventurers came to the celebration and took a group portrait together, with Shiriki Utundu. This roster included Captain Mary Oceaneer, Lord Henry Mystic, Mystic's pet monkey Albert, Dr. J.L. Baterista, and Prof. R. Blauerhimmel.
While in his penthouse suite, Hightower was advised by Smelding not to disrespect Shiriki Utundu. In spite, Hightower extinguished his cigar on the idol which prompted Shiriki Utundu to spring to life and blast Hightower into an elevator shaft before dropping him to his death. Hightower's body was never found and he was declared missing, while strange glowing was seen from outside of the Hotel Hightower including by Beatrice Rose Endicott. After this, the Hotel Hightower was closed down and Smelding was institutionalized.
20th century[]
In 1908, the "Muppet" rat Papa Rizzo founded his pizzeria "Papa Rizzo". Also in 1908, Cornelius Endicott II attempted to have the Hotel Hightower demolished as a final blow to Hightower. However, Beatrice Rose Endicott was approached by Archibald Smelding, posing a homeless man named Archie. Smelding manipulated Beatrice into working against her father in order to preserve the Hotel Hightower as a New York City landmark.
In 1909, Cornelius Endicott II oversaw construction of the S.S. Columbia. Beatrice Rose, designed the interior of the cruise ship. On the April 11 of 1911, the S.S. Columbia was christened. On the March 20th of 1912, the Columbia made her maiden voyage to Liverpool, England, with Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft aboard.
Also in 1912, Beatrice Rose founded the New York City Preservation Society which successfully saved the Hotel Hightower from her father's wrath. However, this was a ploy by Smelding who believed that sending tourists and tour-guides into the hotel as sacrifice would appease the god into freeing his master. Many who went into the Hotel Hightower were attacked by Shiriki Utundu, with at least one party getting saved by the remorseful ghost of Harrison Hightower III.
In 1925, Cornelius Endicott II patented a device known as the Hydrophone, allowing for communication with different forms of sea-life. A hydrophone was installed into the S.S. Columbia's Undersea Observatory. From this observatory, Endicott and his guests would regularly communicate with the sea-turtle, Crush.
In 1938, Society of Explorers and Adventurers member and astronomer Aya Kouame-Beauciel was involved in the construction of an observatory in New York City.
In 1954 was Stark Industries' first "Stark Expo" held in Flushing Meadows.
In 1964 was the historic 1964 World's Fair. Another Stark Expo was held in this year.
By 1989, Papa Rizzo's relative Rizzo the Rat opened a new PizzeRizzo in Los Angeles.
