The Nokke or Nøkken is a character which appeared in the extinct attraction Maelstrom, based on the creature of the same name from Scandinavian folklore.
Description[]
Nokke are a species from Scandinavian folklore who drown unsuspecting travellers in the water. This Nokke lived in, "Troll Country" within the woods of Norway or EPCOT's Norway Pavilion. The creature resembled a squat troll with a skin of wooden texture, moss growing along its body, and massive glowing yellow eyes.

The Nokken appeared in the Troll Country scene, emerging from the waters as guests were sent back over the falls by the three-headed troll. It also appeared in the attraction's load-area mural.
Trivia[]
- The Nokke's appearance in Maelstrom resembles the 1904 artwork, "Nøkken" by Theodor Kittelsen (1957- 1914).
- Elsa tames a Nokke in Frozen 2, with said Nokke resembling a horse made of living water.
