Origins[]
Oogie Boogie is the bogeyman who lives on the outskirts of Halloween Town. Oogie Boogie resembles a large humanoid burlap sack filled with live bugs and a snake, while also enjoying to eat said critters as well as people. In addition to this, Oogie Boogie is, "The Shadow on the Moon at Night" who claims to fill dreams with fright.
Oogie Boogie makes his lair from a torture-chamber/casino underneath of a dried up lake with a treehouse used by his three trick or treater henchmen Lock, Shock, and Barrel who appear to kidnap people for him based off his, "Bogey List". Oogie Boogie has an obsession with gambling and chance games, forcing his victims to participate in unfair gambles for their lives. Oogie appears to have some form of history with Halloween Town's leader Jack Skellington, who views Oogie as, "No good".
The Nightmare Before Christmas[]
When Jack plotted to have Halloween run Christmas for one year, he hired Lock, Shock and Barrel to kidnap Santa Claus. After kidnapping Santa, the three betrayed Jack and sent him into Oogie Boogie to be tortured and eaten. Sally attempted to save Santa, only to be caught and captured by Boogie. When the two were going to be killed, they were saved by Jack who then ripped out Oogie's stitching, dumping his insides into a vat of burning acid before his final bug was crushed by Santa.
Haunted Mansion Holiday[]
Through unknown circumstances, Oogie Boogie became one of the Halloween Town residents to visit the Haunted Mansion during the winter holidays to bring festivities to their ghostly retreat. Oogie went by the moniker of, "Boogie Claws", and gave out randomized twisted gifts while his henchmen attacked mortal guests.

Oogie Boogie appears in the exit crypt with a buzz-saw wheel of fortune labelled, "Oogie's Holiday Tricks and Treats". While referring to him as, "Oogie Claws" he gives guests twisted gifts before Lock, Shock and Barrel blow things at them. He has also had his likeness appear throughout the mansion such as in a cymbal monkey toy.
Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare[]
In the spider-web scene, Oogie's shadow appears near caged bugs labelled as gifts for him to eat.

Oogie Boogie is central character of this annual Halloween event. He tends to appear in the Carthay Circle Restaurant and is explained as having orchestrated the appearances of the villains throughout the park. These villains include:

- Buena Vista Street: Himself and Ernesto de la Cruz (from Coco).
- Grizzly Peak: Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty), Mother Gothel (Tangled), and Judge Doom (Who Framed Roger Rabbit?).

- Oogie Boogie's audio-animatronic in Haunted Mansion Holiday used to be used for Big Al in the Country Bear Jamboree.
