Orbitron is a rocket-spinner attraction at Disneyland Park (Paris) at Disneyland Paris in France. It opened on April 12, 1992.

Summary[]

  • Maneuver a rocket-like spacecraft into the farthest reaches of space and back. As the newest star pilot to join the fleet, the time has come for you to take to the sky. With fellow cadets enter a loading platform for your spaceflight to begin.
  • After receiving authorization from Ground Control, make your way to a gleaming 2-passenger spaceship of your choice and prepare for launch. Then, hold on tight as your spacecraft levitates and begins a series of rapid revolutions around a galaxy of planets, as the sights and sounds of Tomorrowland whizz by in the distance below.
  • As you take control of your very own rocket, you are in command of your flight. Control how high you fly by pulling or pushing the lever inside the ship.

History[]

The opening of Euro Disneyland in April 1992 marked a significant change in the design of Tomorrowland. Known as Discoveryland, the land took on a retro-science-fiction style inspired by some of Europe's greatest writers, such as Jules Verne and H. G. Wells. As such, Orbitron's central axis resembles a bronze 19th century rotating planetarium instead of a rocket. This concept was later exported to the attractions at both American theme parks when they were renovated later in the 1990s. This was also the first version of the attraction to be installed at ground level instead of atop an elevated platform.
