Professor Philip Brainard is the protagonist of the movie Flubber (1997), based on Professor Ned Brainard portrayed by Fred MacMurray in a variety of science-fiction/comedy Disney films. He is portrayed by the late Robin Williams.

History[]

Background[]

Origins[]

Philip Brainard was an absent-minded professor who taught at Medfield College. Around 1997, Brainard created a robotic assistant called Weebo who came to fall in-love with him, all while Philip only loved his ex-fiancee Dr. Sara Jean Reynolds. Philip came to create a living chemical, "Flying Rubber" called, "Flubber". When Sara Jean's new lover tried to steal the Flubber, Weebo sacrificed herself to help stop them.

Philip managed to stop the villains' plans using flubber and married Sara afterwards. The two adopted Flubber and Weebo's daughter Weebette as their children.

Imagination Institute[]

For his invention of Flubber, Philip was given the Imagination Institute's, "Inventor of the Year Award". Brainard was given an office in the institute's headquarters the Imagination! Pavilion in EPCOT where his Flubber ran rampant and was used by other institute members. Weebo's model was put on display as a tribute within the pavilion.
