Background[]
Sally Slater was a (possibly French or Francophone) woman with a presumed connection to the Haunted Mansion. While tightrope walking in a swampland, Sally's tightrope frayed and she was eaten by an alligator.
Development history[]
The tightrope walker character was designed by Marc Davis and appeared, unnamed, since the Haunted Mansion's opening day. In 2011, the Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion received an interactive addition to its queue which included the crypt of Prudence Pock, within which was the ghost poetess writing poems. One of her poems was, "In the swamp, poor Sally Slater was eaten by an alligator", and the name Sally Slater went on to be used for the tightrope walker character in various Haunted Mansion materials.
