History[]
Background[]
Origins[]
Sammy was a raccoon who somehow got turned into a top-hat (presumably having been hunted and skinned) though stayed alive with a head able to pop out from the top of his hat. The hat belonged to anthropomorphic bear foot-ball player turned musical performer Henry who was attached to Henry, saying, "After all, I never knew a football helmet that could sing like Sammy”.
Country Bears[]
Development history[]
Sammy was designed by Marc Davis for the Country Bear Jamboree. He was originally voiced by Bill Cole. In Country Bear Vacation Hoedown, his role was replaced by Randy the Skunk.
In 2023, an update for Country Bear Jamboree redesigned Henry to wear a cowboy hat, removing Sammy from his head. Sammy's role was changed, appearing behind Henry's amp to sing "You got a friend in me".
