Sao Feng is a character from Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007), portrayed by Chow Yun-fat.
History[]
Background[]
Origins[]
Sao Feng was an 18th century pirate, operating out of a bathhouse in Singapore. Sao Feng became Pirate Lord of the South China Seas for the Brethren Court, and owner of the Mao Kun Map which lead to supernatural locations across the world. Sao Feng also became enemies with fellow Pirate Lord, Captain Jack Sparrow.
World's End[]
In the late 1720s, he was sought after by Barbossa and Elizabeth Swann to take his map so that they could navigate to Davy Jones' Locker and resurrect Captain Jack Sparrow. At this same time, Sao Feng's bathhouse was put under attack by the British Empire and East India Trading Company, but not before he gave the map to William Turner with a secret agreement for Will to betray his comrades in return for getting Jack's ship The Black Pearl.
After Sao Feng ambushed the Pearl with Will's help, he switched sides to that of Barbossa due to learning that Barbossa aimed to release the sea goddess Calypso which would give the Brethren Court an advantage in their fight with the British. Barbossa mislead Sao Feng into believing that Elizabeth was the human incarnation of Calypso, prompting him to have her aboard his ship and attempt to seduce her. Elizabeth warded off his advances and shortly after the ship was attacked by Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman, killing Sao Feng but not before he left Elizabeth as his successor captain and pirate lord.
