The Swedish Chef is a character from the Muppet Show. He is the Muppets' television chef, who speaks in gibberish "Mock Swedish", and whose segment often turns disastrous and/or violent.

History[]

Background[]

Origins[]

The Swedish Chef is a chef of (supposedly) Swedish origin who had a cooking segment on the Muppet Show.

Muppet*Vision 3D[]

The Swedish Chef worked in the projection booth of the Grand Arts Theatre during the Muppets' presentation of Muppet*Vision 3D. Many problems arose during this presentation, not limited to the loose Muppet Labs experiment Waldo C. Graphic causing chaos.

In the grand finale, Waldo caused a fire in the penguin orchestra's section, causing the penguins to emerge with a cannon to shoot at Waldo. The penguins however missed and shot at the Swedish Chef's projection booth. The chef then used a musket to fire at Waldo C. Graphic, blaming him. When Waldo mocked the chef's aim, the chef pulled out his own cannon and blasted down the projector and backstage wall of the theatre, ending the show.

Grand Avenue[]

Muppet*Vision 3D[]

The directory in the queue identifies the Swedish Chef as running the Muppet Kitchens & Pyrotechnics Research. The Swedish Chef operates the projector, and can be heard at several parts of the show communicating with Kermit. Towards the end of the show, he appears as an animatronic wielding a blunderbuss and tries to shoot down Waldo. When this fails, he pulls out a cannon and blasts Waldo, knocking down a wall.

PizzeRizzo[]

A flyer for Swedish Singing Cakes appears on a board, referencing the Chef. There is also framed caricature of the chef, cooking a life chicken while accompanied by Muppet fruits & vegetables.[1]

Sunset Boulevard[]

Sunset Seasons Greetings[]

One of the projections has a Seasons Greetings card from the Chef, while his Muppet themed Gingerbread house is projected onto the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

Trivia[]

  • The Chef appearing as an audio-animatronic in the back of a screen-based sit-down attraction is similar to Donald Duck in Mickey's Philharmagic.
  • Despite the Swedish Chef being the most famous culinary artist on the Muppet Show, the Muppet themed restaurants in the parks are centred around Rizzo the Rat and Sam Eagle respectively.
