Teddi Barra is a character from the Country Bear Jamboree.
History[]
Background[]
Origins[]
Teddi Barra is a singing bear whose talents were discovered while she was sitting atop a soda fountain stool in an ice cream parlor three miles from Gentry, Arkansas. From there, she became a singing performer bear nicknamed, "The Jewel of the Dakotas" and, "The Last of the Big Time Swingers". Trixie was best distinguished by her parasol and feather-boa which she promised to leave to the Daughters of Benton County Western Museum when they become worn out.
Country Bear Jamboree[]
Around the late 19th/early 20th century, Teddie became employed by the Country Bears, performing in Grizzly Hall from a swing suspended from the ceiling. She is believed to have had a romantic affair with the Country Bears' master-of-ceremonies, Henry.
Teddi also appeared to have been the proprietor of a building called "Teddi Barra's Swingin' Arcade" in the region of "Critter Country" by the 1920s. Also in the 1920s, Teddi Barra seemed to have met Critter Country visitor "Winnie the Pooh", a stuffed toy bear from the Hundred Acre Wood. A portrait was made showing Teddi swinging on a tree-branch, and Pooh floating up to her in a balloon.
Teddi Barra made front-page in an issue of Bears Magazine. At some point, Teddi's performance included a romantic duet with Wendell to the dismay of Henry.
