The Termite-ator is a character from It's Tough to Be a Bug!.

History[]

Background[]

Origins[]

"The Termite-ator" is a stoic and violent soldier termite dedicated to protecting its perceived colony from intruders by blasting acid at opponents. Somehow, he became known as a kind of performer for his acid skills, and Tim Burr of the Hollow Wood Reporter referred to his act as, "He's armed and ready for action".

It's Tough to Be a Bug![]

The Termite-ator was one of the performers in Flik's show, "It's Tough to be a Bug!" in the Tree of Life Theater below the Tree of Life on Discovery Island. The point of this show was to encourage humans (shrunken to see the performance) a better perception of bugs for better inter-species relations.

Flik had talked to the Termite-ator to not use his acid to burn through the set and parts of the building, only for him to do so during the show regardless. When one insect heckled the Termite-ator, he spat burning acid at the audience bug resulting in extreme pain if not death. After this, the Termite-ator saw the human guests as intruders and attempted burning them as well, only to run out of ammo and leave while saying, "I'll be back".

Development history[]

The Termite-ator is an obvious parody of the action-movie villain, The Terminator. Him saying, "I'll be back" is a quote from the first film.

Appearances[]

It's Tough to Be a Bug![]

The Termite-ator was a character in this attraction, accompanied by a water squirting affect to represent his acid.

Trivia[]

  • The Termite-ator's fixation on attacking intruders and subsequent absence in the show is ironic given how after he left, the show was actually attacked and taken over by Hopper and his minions.
