Professor Tom Morrow is a recurring Tomorrowland character from Rocket to the Moon. He has been voiced by George Walsh and Nathan Lane.
History[]
Biography[]
Rocket to the Moon[]
Professor Tom Morrow was a scientist during the early 20th century, possibly having been as active as the late 1930s as the author of books, "Mission to the Stars" and, "Mission to the Red Planet". Tom Morrow was an inhabitant of the futurist settlement Tomorrowland, presumably around the 1980s. In Tomorrowland, Morrow was Spacecraft Missions Director for Moonliner Flight Systems, a space-program where he watched over the Moonliner rocket which made travels to the moon.
Later history[]
Later on in Tomorrowland's history, Tom Morrow was always seen in a robotic form. He gave lectures in the Tomorrowland Interplanetary Convention Centre such as, "MISSION TO MARS: HISTORY OR HOAX" for the League of Planets. He came to serve the position of Tomorrowland's mayor, using his position to promote new technologies at the Tomorrowland Expo Center. A robot called Tom Morrow 2.0 would be made to serve this same purpose in EPCOT.
Development history[]
Tom Morrow was originally portrayed as a balding scientist voiced by George Walsh in the pre-show for Rocket to the Moon, an attraction made before the actual moon-landing. When humans actually did travel to the moon, making the attraction outdated, the attraction was changed to Mission to Mars and Tom's figure was repurposed for the character of Mister Johnson who served the same function. Tom Morrow would continue being referenced in attractions and eventually make a physical appearance in Innoventions as robotic mayor of Tomorrowland, using the same figure as the Timekeeper.
