The Toon Patrol also known as The Weasels are antagonists from Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988).
Description[]
The Toon Patrol are a gang of anthropomorphic, "Toon" weasels who in the 1940s acted as the brutal and discriminatory law-enforcement of Toontown under the evil Judge Doom. The Toon Patrol hunted down Toons for Judge Doom to execute by melting alive in, "The Dip", a paint-thinner like substance. When Judge Doom was killed and found out to be a criminal, the remaining weasels became a wanted crime-syndicate in Toontown, based out of Toontown Alley Street where they brewed large quantities of the Dip.

History[]
Background[]
Who Framed Roger Rabbit[]
The Toon Patrol are a group of villainous weasels who became hired by Toontown's corrupt and genocidal Judge Doom as he believed they had a knack for law-enforcement. The weasels had a group of hyena cousins who at some point laughed themselves to death, causing Smartass and Judge Doom to make sure none of the Toon Patrol ever laughed.
In 1947, the patrol conspired with Doom in his plans to kill Marvin Acme of the ACME Corporation which owned Toontown, pin the crime on Maroon Cartoons star Roger Rabbit, and then destroy Toontown with Dip to create a commercialized freeway in its place. After the murder, the Toon Patrol hunted down Roger while Roger was assisted by detective Eddie Valiant. Eddie and Roger's wife Jessica were eventually taken captive by Doom and the weasels before Roger showed up to stop them, only for him to be likewise taken out by the weasels and tied up with Jessica to be dipped.
To save Roger and Jessica, Eddie returned to his comedic roots and did a clown routine which made various of the weasels laugh themselves to death when Doom was out of the room. During the musical number, Roger distracted Smartass who was holding Eddie at gunpoint, so that Eddie could kick him in the groin so hard it sent the weasel into a vat of Dip. Eddie ultimately foiled Doom's plans and killed the Judge.
Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin[]
Through unknown means, the weasels would come back to life around 1947-1948.[1] At that point, the weasels were considered to be wanted criminals who hid away in the Toontown Alley Street, brewing Dip. Inspired by Eddie Valiant, Jessica decided to become a private-investigator herself and track down the weasels. Using her celebrity status, Jessica spoke out on the weasels saying, "Enough is enough. The good toons of our neighbourhoods are afraid to come out at night, and it is getting worse by the day! Those weasels are up to something big...I am going to find out what it is, and put a stop to it!".
On one night of investigation, Jessica tracked down the weasels as Smartass was transporting canisters of Dip. Smartass dumped some Dip on the street, burning the wheels of Benny being driven by Roger, and his cousin Lenny who was transporting cab passengers. After driving through the streets of Toontown, the heroes found the Weasels in the Gag Factory where Jessica knocked out Wheezy and Smoky with a mallet. When Smartass attempted to attack Lenny with a Dip Machine, Roger helped them all escape using a large portable hole.
Appearances[]
Mickey's Toontown[]
The W.A.C.K.Y. radio will sometimes be interrupted to give a warning about how the weasels are on the loose and using Dip.
Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin[]
The Weasels are main-antagonist of this attraction.
Trivia[]
- It is unknown how Smart Ass came back to life after being kicked into a vat of Dip. The others died of laughter so could have been resurrected via cartoon logic, but the Dip is generally treated as permanent death for a Toon.
- One theory is that the, "Wise Guy" Weasel identified in the attraction is actually a separate character from Smart Ass.[2]
- An additional, unidentified weasel appears in Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin.
