Origins[]
Zazu is a hornbill who was majordomo of the Pride Lands, assisting its lion king.
The Lion King[]
Zazu was majordomo under King Mufasa, and assisted in training his son Simba to be king. When Mufasa's brother Scar orchestrated a wildebeest stampede which Simba was in the way of, Zazu alerted Mufasa before being rendered unconscious by Scar. Mufasa died in the stampede while Simba was presumed dead, and Zazu then began serving Scar. When Simba was an adult, he returned to Pride Rock, defeated Scar and reclaimed his place as king, with Zazu as his majordomo.
The Enchanted Tiki Room[]
Around the 1990s, Zazu had a bird Hollywood agent (William or Morris) who arranged for him to be a new owner of the Enchanted Tiki Room in Polynesia. Zazu co-owned the Tiki Room with the parrot, Iago, who tried to change the Tiki Room's act only to upset the goddess Uh-Oa who burned and injured Iago as punishment.
Iago's further history is unknown.

- In the Enchanted Tiki Room, Zazu was voiced by actor Michael Gough rather than Rowan Atkinson who voiced him in the Lion King.
